Skull Project, 2022
This work is an existential exploration. For as long as I can remember, the haunting questions have always been: What am I doing here? What am I supposed to do with this life? And at the same time, I feel like I have the answer on the tip of my tongue. It’s like entering a room only to forget the reason why you came.
I explore this impalpable something, the unspeakable, the imperceptible between life and death, and this fascinating continuity.
Perhaps the viewer, on seeing skulls, interprets morbidity. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Despite the tearing apart, the separation, there is an infinite, pure, persistent love. This is the beginning of the stories that my works tell. The message transcends skulls and death, long before and long after. It represents the infinite continuity of existence in the broadest sense of the term.
I don't really know in advance what I will create. The story, meaning, and concept unfold like a ball of yarn as I create. In reality, the story imposes itself on me. It is self-induced like pulling the thread of an old wool sweater found in the closet of an abandoned house.
